Crimson Tales: Holiday Crime Special

We’ve chosen a slightly different path as we approach the final episode of 2023. Today’s cases will be less emotionally intense, offering a reprieve as we transition into the festive season and the new year with a lighter spirit. We will focus on incidents where, despite criminal actions, no physical harm befell anyone – those peculiar situations that prompt disbelief and make you question their authenticity.

Content Warnings: mentions of drug use, drug trafficking, assault, attempted murder

Tamla Horsford: Unanswered Questions

The term “closure” stirs complex emotions within countless families. It’s a concept that doesn’t always sit well with those who have experienced the tragic loss of a loved one due to murder, individuals who have endured assault, and even detectives who sense that the full narrative of a victim remains untold. The question lingers: Can closure exist when there’s no way to recover what’s been taken away? No court ruling can ever resurrect a slain parent, a cherished colleague, or a best friend or erase the trauma inflicted upon a survivor of sexual assault. For many people, it’s entirely understandable that no jail time served by a perpetrator could ever compensate for the profound suffering endured by the victims and their families.

Content Warnings: Unsolved case, Racism, Potential police corruption/mishandling of a case.

They ALMOST got away with it…

In recent years, DNA has played a pivotal role in cracking cold cases, bringing justice to victims who have long been denied closure. One of the most notable successes was the identification of the Golden State Killer/East Area Rapist four decades after his notorious crime spree began. Today, we delve into the captivating stories of two other criminals who almost escaped the grasp of justice… until DNA intervened.

⚠️ Content Warnings: This episode contains discussions about cold cases, murder, sexual assault, and mentions of child endangerment. Listener discretion is advised.
