Too Close to Home

David Elliot Penton was a sadistic child predator. He stalked his victims until the moment was right. His hunting ground? Just a few miles from where I grew up in North Dallas. This real life boogeyman was every parents worst nightmare. Unable to satiate his urge to murder, David would leave families and the victims who survived, irreparably damaged.

  1. Me, Dave Penton, Ralph Stacy and SGt Yu were the tank recovery crew in Korea in 1983. I remember him and his visits to the “Turkey Farm” where under age prostitutes worked outside of yong ju gol where we were stationed and was off limits to US military personnel. Dave was an odd sort of guy with racist tendencies. I remember one day while taking a break on top of the M-88 recovery vehicle the subject of killing people came up. I vividly remember him insisting that choking was the best way. I remember feeling like he was just trying to be macho but the look in his eyes made me think that he wanted to try it if not already tried it. After finding out about Dave I still wonder if any of those kids in the turkey farm fell victim to him. We well probably never know.

    1. Hi Matthew, I would be extremely interested in talking with you at some point about Dave, I’ve been doing a lot of research about his life and would love to ask you a few questions via email if that’s possible. Feel free to email me at renickwooley89@gmail.com if you’re interested, thank you.

    1. I was a child in Garland. I believe that he tried to abduct me in 1986/7. Anyone with details please reach out to verify my recollections. Rattled to see all this. Haunted.

      1. Jane, I also believe he may have been the man who tried to abduct me in the 80s in Garland, but I can’t be sure because that man was in a car and not in David’s ugly van. But in his picture from the 80s, he looks very much like the man who approached me and tried to get me into his car.

        1. CD, a man also tried to get me in his car in Mesquite. I’m thinking 1978. Said he needed directions to Fun Land swimming pool. Asked me to lay my bike down, go with him, he’d give me $20 and bring me right back.
He also looked much like David Proctor. Been thinking about it a lot lately and trying to do some research. Curious if your story has any similarities. You email me, victoriahp@hotmail.com

    2. I would love to speak with either of you. I’ve been trying to pin down when he was actually in Korea, in addition to anything else I can learn about him. I was abducted in 1982 by a man who looked just like him.
